June 2004

(6/30/04) Tonight Henry and I were looking at the islands from the second floor porch, and a bright red biplane--a radial-engined Waco reproduction--rumbled slowly by.  As it passed into the sunset, Henry looked at me and tapped his fingers together in the sign for “do it again, Daddy”.

(6/27/04) A small-vehicle face off...we hang out in the morning, the Wrights go back to Encino, and we spend the evening with the Mauers, admiring their new house and garden.

(6/26/04) Welcome Wrights! We had a long lazy lunch at home, the boys took naps, and we had dinner downtown at Paradise Café.   We picked up dessert crepes across the street and ate them at home.

(6/25/04) Today I take Case and do something that’s eluded me for five years—climb the Cold Springs trail all the way up.   It’s a hot day and Case and I suffer from the heat, but we have plenty of water and snacks.

(6/23/04) Goodbye Pintos :-(
From left, Betty, Pete, and Grace Wenzel, Dave Pinto, Jill, Surya Sajnani, Andrew and Fran Swart, Henry, and Sid Pinto.

(6/22/04) Dr. Duncan Turner performs the first ultrasound.   Our little “bean” is only a centimeter long, but we do see the little heart beat!

(6/21/04) Watch out, here we come! Leaving for a pre-dinner stroll through Riven Rock.

(6/20/04) Happy Fathers Day!
A hand-painted bunny from my "little bunny". A great day--we went to church and had lunch at the country club.

This "legacy project", to preserve our family memories as a living legacy, began on Father's Day.
